About me
I'm Alessia and I'm a food lover masquerading as a techie by day. Raised in an Italian family in the suburbs of Toronto, food has always been a huge part of my life. Most the good memories with friends and family happened around the dinner table. This is a general feeling among those raised in Italian culture, but I also had exposure to the food of so many other cultures. Toronto has been called a mosaic culture, and with that comes food from all over the world. Being the curious person I am - I had to try it all!
The blog name "Not Nonna's Kitchen" is an expression of that experience - my love for food was fostered in by being in the kitchen of my nonna (grandmother), but expanded by my experiences growing up in Toronto, moving to San Francisco and ultimately expanding my cooking repertoire with different ingredients, spices, techniques and, ultimately, flavor.
I hope you find here recipes founded in Italian traditions, but inspired by the global palette.
